Shoe Modifications

Sometimes the Right Shoe Just Needs a Little Adjustment
We offer a variety of modifications, including lifts, wedges, offloads, and select repairs to help make your footwear work better for your individual needs.
In addition to footwear and orthotics, we offer select shoe repairs and modifications to help improve fit, comfort, and functionality. These services can include adjustments to accommodate orthotics, minor repairs, or modifications designed to better support specific foot conditions.
Modifications We Offer
- Lifts: Added to the heel or sole to help compensate for leg length differences, improve balance, and reduce strain on the feet, knees, hips, and back.
- Wedges: Medial or lateral wedges help improve foot alignment, redistribute pressure, and enhance stability during walking and standing.
- Offloads: Designed to reduce pressure on specific areas of the foot, helping relieve pain and protect sensitive areas affected by diabetes, ulcers, calluses, or other conditions.
- Adjustments to Accommodate Orthotics: Shoe modifications that help create the space and support needed for custom orthotics to fit and function properly.
- Select Repairs: Including heel replacements, sole repairs, sole reattachment, shoe stretching, and other footwear repairs extend the life and comfort of your shoes.

How It Works
1. Bring in Your Shoes
Visit any ShoeLab location and bring the shoes you'd like modified. Whether you're dealing with foot pain, leg length differences, pressure points, balance concerns, or poor fit, we'll evaluate your footwear and discuss your needs.
2. Tell Us What's Bothering You
Our team will assess your concerns, review your gait and foot mechanics if needed, and recommend the shoe modification that best supports your comfort, mobility, and foot health goals.
3. We Customize Your Solution
Based on your needs, we may recommend lifts, wedges, offloading modifications, rocker soles, orthotic accommodations, stretching, repairs, or other specialized footwear adjustments.
4. Modification & Pickup
Most shoe modifications take approximately 4-8 weeks to complete. Turnaround times vary depending on the complexity of the modification, current workload, material availability, and other factors that may affect production timelines.
5. Pricing Based on the Work Performed
Every modification is unique. Pricing varies based on the type and extent of work required. Our team will discuss costs before work begins whenever possible.
